The essential elements of an apprenticeship and training program is providing training in a skill and certification of the acquired skills. It is through education that we can ensure future growth and prosperity for everyone in the electrical industry.
In order to be a skilled electrician, an apprenticeship and training program must provide learning through job related education and on the job training. Our program offers both of these elements.
We have secured the finest training facility for electricians for our job-related education and have a group of select employers who will provide a safe environment for the on the job training portion.
In order to be a skilled electrician, our apprenticeship and training program offers two elements of training. Job related education encompasses one hundred eighty (180) hours per year and on the job training for approximately 1600-2000 hours per year. The apprenticeship and training program is a five (5) year program. During this period, each apprentice works under a journeyperson. Under the journeyperon’s guidance the apprentices progressively learns the mechanics of the trade and gradually performs the work under less and less supervision.
To employers who wish to have a registered apprenticeship program with New York State Department of Labor, we offer all services for application of your registered program.
The apprentices will be paid as full time employees of the company in which they are working. There will be pay increments each year after the apprentice receives the proper on the job training hours and related instruction hours.
All costs incurred for any aspect of this program is paid by the fund. There is no cost to the apprentice, mechanic, or journeyperson.
